Kinia
The leadership team at Kinia, an education social enterprise, needed to work together better to confront internal issues more constructively and function better together under pressure.
Diagnostic
The leadership team in Kinia is made up of a team of highly qualified and committed individuals. However a merger, a re-brand and attrition in senior roles has resulted in a disconnected leadership that is not functioning effectively to maximise the impact and growth of the organisation.
The Solution
Using Lencioni’s Five Dysfunctions of a Team, a survey was drawn up to invite participants to have their say, anonymously.
The output from the survey was used to inform the priorities and a series of three workshops was designed:
The Result
By the end of the third workshop, participants had all given and received feedback to each other individually and we were able to establish the criteria for a better working culture. Everyone committed to:
- 1Review the 2023 Vision, Mission and Strategy and ensure everyone understands it and buys into it.
- 2Maintain regular management meetings
- 3Conduct open and honest post-mortem after events
- 4Talk together more often and confront awkward issues more regularly.
Conclusion
Participants engaged fully in the process and the team gained a clearer idea of what is missing and what is needed.
While the process is an ongoing one, significant steps forward have been taken with regard to building trust and setting expectations on how an effective leadership team should operate in a way that works best for us and our organisational culture.
Testimonial
”Natalie understood the brief and picked up on the dynamics within the team very quickly. The objective and professional approach modelled the effective leadership behaviours that we wanted to achieve without impeding the positive aspects to the culture we have in Kinia. She was also willing and easily able to adapt mid-workshop in response to feedback from our team and this really ensured ownership of the process for us internally. Overall Natalie was a pleasure to work with, we were kept on the brief with her warm professional manner and I would have no hesitation in making a referral or recommendation to any organisation.”
